Sincerely invite you to participate the 9-th International Seabuckthorn Association Conference (ISA-2023) which will be held on May 22-25 at Thessaloniki, Greece, 2023. For the first time in our association history the Conference will take place in Greece  –  the territory  where the origin story of Hippophae came from. Combination of climate conditions and modern approaches in cultivation technologies leads to successful results in seabuckthorn industry in Greece. Within last several years seabuckthorn plantations in Greece rise up from mostly nothing to more than 200 hectares, providing both high productivity and unique palatability.

You should be a part of the most important event in our seabuckthorn society and meet relevant researches in different fields of  activity including breeding, cultivation, processing, pharmacy, marketing etc.

It is hard to believe that seabuckthorn in Greece, despite of extremely hot climate condition during summer time, develops even better compare to Siberia, where most of varieties growing in Greece are from. We consider this area as one of the most promising in Europe, providing productivity up to 20 tons per hectare of large berries with excellent taste. It is interesting to know that seabuckthorn in Greece completely ripen in June - the earliest in the world. It opens new horizons for business, new approaches in marketing focused on fresh consumption but not only processing. We invite you to participate the Conference both as scientific attendee as well as  commercial partner. Flexible terms for sponsors are provided.

DATES AND VENUE

Conference will be held from May 22 to May 25, 2023 at Grand Hotel Palace, 305 Monastiriou str., Thessaloniki, Greece. It is absolutely amazing 5-star hotel with special price for Conference participants. Most of rooms are double. Price per standard room for participants is 85 Euro including breakfast. If you like to share the room you should pay additional 15 Euro for second breakfast (totally 100 Euro). Very warm welcome to our Conference in company and you will stay at 5-star hotel for 50 Euro per night!!!

BRIEF INTRODUCTION OF THE ISA CONFERENCES

International Conferences and meetings organized by International Seabuckthorn Association have quite a long history which date back to 2001 when ISA have been established. The upcoming Conference in Thessaloniki is going to be the most visited event of our Association within recent period. We expect about 200-250 participants from all over the world including half of them of local growers and specialists.

  • Nutritional and pharmaceutical applications of SBT.

3. Reforestation and ecological rehabilitation

  • Practical results in soil conservation by SBT;
  • Reforestation by SBT, a commercial source of berries;
  • Stability and suitability of SBT cultivars under changing global weather conditions.

CALL FOR ABSTRACTS

Deadline for Abstract Submission is March 31, 2023

Abstracts should be sending to the Secretariat at both of the following e-mails: nikos.doukas@hippophae.net, vasiliki.delitzia@hippophae.net

Notification  of  acceptance  will  be  sent  to  authors  no  later  than  April 30,  2023.

Submitted abstracts will be reviewed, and all the accepted abstracts will be published in the Conference Proceedings. Proceedings will be issued as print or CD version  before the Conference.

The Scientific Committee has the right to reject the abstracts that will come after the deadline or is prepared against the rules.

Abstracts must be written in English and not exceed 1 page, being A4 format using 12-point  Times  New  Roman  font.  Text  should  be  single-spaced  with  3  cm  from  the  left margin and 2 cm from other margins and justified.

The title should be centered typed in bold capital letters (14-point Times New Roman font)

Poster Presentations

Poster presentation should include:

- Title

- Name of authors

- Abstracts

- Subject, i.e. research objective

- Experimental materials and methodology

- Key conclusions

Each poster presenter will be provided with one board of each being 90 cm by 120 cm for displaying.

 

CONFERENCE LANGUAGE

The official language of the conference will be English. Simultaneous translation Greek-English is planning.

 

LOCATION

The academic part of the Conference will take place in Thessaloniki. Technical visits will be  organized  around  Thessaloniki.  Post-conference  tours  are  planning  in  several options.

 

WEATHER

The average air temperature at the end  of  May  in  Thessaloniki  region is  about +25 °C and sometimes it can be rise up to +30 °C. The temperature of the Aegean Sea is about +25 °C. Sunshine largely predominates, but rain may occur.

Local time is Greenwich Mean Time +2 hours.

REGISTRATION FEE

Conference registration fee rates are as follows:

- 350 Euro for commercial participants;

- 300 Euro for scientific participants;

- 150 Euro for accompanying persons.

The Conference registration fee is to be paid in cash at the registration desk or by transfer before the Conference.

 

Commercial participant registration fee includes attendance at all scientific program events and presentation your advertising material.

- attendance at the Opening Ceremony;

- attendance at all sessions;

- presentation of advertising material;

- conference banquet;

- conference bag with the conference program, abstract volumes, stationery, etc;

1. Granting of the official status “THE GENERAL SPONSOR OF THE CONFERENCE". The status is given exclusively.

2. The right of the invitation of 5 delegates to participate in all events of the Conference free of registration fee.

3. Granting of an opportunity to choice an equipped exhibition area for participation in an exhibition.

4. Placement of a company logo with category of sponsorship to all information and promotional materials of the Conference:

- press releases;

5. Speech of the representative of the sponsor at the opening ceremony of the Conference.

In the frames of the Ninth International Seabuckthorn Association Conference (ISA-2023) “Seabuckthorn in changing climate conditions.  New challenges, technologies and prospectives” the Exhibition is planning.

More than 200 participants from about of 20 countries are planning to join the Conference. Being the member of the Exhibition you bring important contribution to the success of Conference and promotion of your products.

The Exhibition will be located in the front of the Conference Hall.

The Exhibition fee is 150 Euro per 1 sq m (minimal area is 2 sq m).

The Exhibition fee is including:
