In Russia in contrary to Germany, Latvia, India or China, there is no official association of seabuckthorn growers, and as we see it there is no chance to organize it in the foreseeable future.

At the same time, there are quite a few of big producers and companies involved in seabuckthorn processing in Russia, and every year new of them are emerging at the sbt scene. The number of nurseries which offers high quality seabuckthorn plant material is increasing from year to year. Unfortunately, the scientific community is extremely limited with its center at the Lisavenko Research Institute of Horticulture for Siberia, Barnaul. Of course, research activity is carried out in other institutions of the country as well, but they are mostly fragmented and does not based on the permanent background.

Meanwhile it should be noted that seabuckthorn direction in Russia has a quite significant level and strongly influenced on the global development of the sbt industry.

You should be well aware that besides China the largest industrial plantations of seabuckthorn are located in Russia. China in this context is beyond of any competition and no country has a chance to close in to it in terms of the areas of seabuckthorn.

As regards of seabuckthorn community itself, it is not so numerous. Everyone is quite familiar with each other, open to experience exchange and in common is very kind person.

One of the most rapidly developing company, involve in production of seabuckthorn berries and processing of them to seabuckthorn oil concentrate. Nowadays, the area of industrial plantations is exceeds 500 hectares. The processing capacity is more than 800 tons of berries per year. Lunev Albert - Well-known businessman involve in a wide range of activities, including seabuckthorn industry, mainly processing. He is not official head of any company associated with seabuckthorn, but formally administrates them. Despite the fact that the seabuckthorn business is not a priority for him, nevertheless, Albert is a quite famous person in seabuckthorn community. Large-scale refrigeration capacities are available, as well as an equipment for shaking fruits from frozen branches.
